Plan Your School Visit

Everything you need to know to plan a fun, meaningful, and manageable visit.

⏱️ Session Length

PreK:  Approximately 30 minutes

Kindergarten: Approximately 45 minutes

1st-3rd Grade:  Approximately 60 minutes

☀️ Number of Classes Per Day

To keep each visit enjoyable and manageable, I schedule a maximum of 5 classroom sessions per day.  A typical day might include 3 morning sessions and 2 afternoon sessions, with a lunch break in between.

📚 Family Book Orders

Families may purchase a signed copy of Tristina the Troublemaker or a Magnificent Bundle through a private online ordering link provided to your school.  Books can be personalized when requested and will be organized by classroom and student.  We will deliver pre-ordered books to students during the school visit.

🚗 Travel Fees

Travel distance is calculated as one-way mileage from Amarillo, Texas.

0–30 miles: No fee

31–60 miles: $50

61–90 miles: $100

Visits beyond 90 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

If overnight lodging is required, the cost will be discussed and approved in advance.

⏱️ Transition Time

Please allow 10 minutes before the first session for setup and approximately 10 minutes between classroom sessions for transitions, resetting materials, and a little breathing room if a session runs over a few minutes.

🏫 Space & Seating

The space needed will depend on the size of the group.

One classroom:  A classroom setting works well.  I simply need a chair, with students seated on the floor in front of me.

Larger groups:  For a grade-level group of up to 3-4 classes, I will need a larger space where students can sit on the floor in front of me.  The space should also allow me to move around so all students can clearly see the pictures as we read.

🏫  Information Needed

When requesting a visit, please be prepared to provide the number of classes participating, grade levels, approximate number of students, and any additional scheduling considerations that may affect the visit.
